Accessibility Statement

Luster & Co. is committed to making our website and our Vancouver studio usable by everyone, including people with disabilities.

1. Our Commitment

We want every customer to be able to browse our collections, understand what they are buying, and reach us easily — regardless of ability or the technology they use. Accessibility is treated as an ongoing obligation rather than a one-time project.

2. Standard We Aim For

We work towards conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines are the internationally recognised standard for making web content perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust. We also have regard to the Accessible British Columbia Act and the Accessible Canada Act.

We describe our current status as partially conformant: most of the site meets the standard, and we are actively working on the areas that do not.

3. What We Have Done

  • Semantic HTML structure with a logical heading order and landmark regions.
  • A skip-to-content link so keyboard users can bypass the navigation.
  • Keyboard access to interactive controls, with visible focus indicators.
  • Descriptive alternative text on product and editorial imagery.
  • Colour combinations chosen to meet contrast requirements for body text.
  • Responsive layouts that work when text is enlarged or the page is zoomed.
  • Labelled form fields with clear error messages.
  • A light and dark theme, so visitors can choose the more comfortable option.

4. Known Limitations

We would rather be honest about the gaps than claim full conformance:

  • Third-party content — embedded maps, review widgets, and social media content are supplied by external providers and are not always fully accessible. We raise issues with those providers where we can.
  • Customer-submitted media — review photographs and videos submitted by customers may lack descriptive text or captions.
  • Motion and animation — some pages use animation on scroll. We are extending support for the prefers-reduced-motion setting across all components.
  • Older content — some earlier blog articles may not fully meet our current standards. We update these as we review them.

5. Accessibility at Our Studio

Our studio is at 600-609 West Hastings Street, Vancouver. If you have specific access requirements — step-free access, a quieter appointment time, a support person or service animal accompanying you, or written information in a different format — please tell us when booking and we will make arrangements. We are glad to do this and you do not need to explain why.

7. Feedback

We welcome reports of accessibility problems. Please tell us the page address, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology or browser you were using. Send this to info@lusterandcompany.com. We aim to acknowledge accessibility feedback within 5 business days and will tell you what we intend to do about it.

8. Review

We review this statement and reassess the site at least annually, and after any significant redesign.
